As a relatively new painter I wanted a safe, friendly environment in which to explore my desire to paint. The Avenue Road Art School is that place. The teachers are not only well distinguished artists in the art community they are also skilled, encouraging and inspiring mentors. The day of my art class has become my favourite day of the week. I look forward to the stimulation of a good lesson and the time to work one on one with the teacher. The camaraderie of my fellow students completes a great session. To be able to learn in such a nurturing space is an experience any aged student would flourish in.

My children and I have taken many classes at the ARAS over the past 15 years. Every class that we have taken has been a complete pleasure. The teachers and staff have been kind, supportive and very professional whether it be to arrange make-up classes, solve parking concerns or provide advice in the event a program has to be cancelled. For the past 4 years, I have taken Jennifer Chin’s digital photography courses. The encouragement and support of both Ms. Chin and the ARAS have inspired me to create photographs worthy of being displayed in several galleries. The staff and founder of the ARAS are a unique group of people who believe deeply in the arts and providing a safe and supportive environment in which children and adults can freely explore their inner artists. They have always exceeded my expectations in every way including professionalism, courtesy and respect for the individual. I have only praise for Lola and her staff and thank all of them for helping one of my dreams come true. I intend to attend classes at the ARAS as long as I am able to do so.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! This school is a joke, I am totally DISGUSTED as they completely wasted our time and ruined my son's year (and almost cost me my JOB). Last summer I signed him up for one of their morning programs for all three terms (as he is in half-day kindergarten and needed morning programming). On the first day of school, we arrived, eager to get started, and were then told that his class had been cancelled due to low enrollment. We hadn't received a phone call, email, or anything. At that point it was too late to sign him up for any other program as everything in the city was full. And guess what, They did it AGAIN this semester!!! 2 out of the 3 terms we signed up for were cancelled at the LAST MINUTE, with no warning. Now he has to spend those mornings at home, and I am totally screwed as a single, working mom who DEPENDS on programming to earn my income. I was expecting to drop my son off and head to work, and instead I had to bring him back home with me, and cancel all my meetings. DOn't waste your time at this school because they have NO problem wasting yours!!! I am totally disgusted. ZERO PROFESSIONALISM. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

My kids and I have been going to Avenue Road Art School for the past five years. My favorite days of the week were Tuesday's and Thursday's as I was doing what I loved, photography and pottery. My kids were part of the program where ARAS staff picked up my kids at Brown school and brought them to Avenue Road Art School which saved me in pick up and drop off time. They were provided a healthy snack when they arrived. The kids loved the different classes they took and learned so much about Art, Drama, Art History and various different mediums. We recently moved to Calgary, and I cannot find a school here that offers the same level of instruction combined with the selection of classes offered at Avenue Road Art School! Your school offers a large variety of courses, with instructors who are second to none. I enjoyed individual attention and instruction while in a group setting. My teachers encouraged me to work outside my normal boundaries to create a portfolio of work that has made me proud. Our work has been placed on high end restaurant walls and shown in our very own Sensations Show at an art Gallery in Toronto. I was hooked!! Keep up the good work. I really miss you guys. Maybe you can open a division of ARAS in Calgary??

Been attending classes and workshops for 2 years, and I somewhat recommend this facility to anyone who is interested in arts or wants new hobbies to pursue. This isn't a professional school where respected people in the fields teach you so you can become artists. It's more like some skilled people give you knowledge on techniques to help you discover your new hobby. This isn't just school where they offer painting lessons but also available are photography, stage performance arts and so on and such. All instructors I've had are inspiring, caring and kind albeit their fake encouragements and rushed attitudes. They make sure everything is understood and help you develop artistic senses, and find areas where you can improve. What came off as disappointment is that they were not willing to engage in interesting discussions because they have to stick to schedule. Classes are very small but it is perfect for people who have school or work during daytime, and enrolment fees won't break the bank, so might as well take it lightly instead of a serious school where you learn to become artists. I took various painting and drawing classes and photography lessons, with which I am happy as I became knowledgable with those activities but there were some cancelled classes time to time. And sometimes classes are boring as not many people are enrolled and instructors would end early where he would not know what to do with remaining time.

I took a watercolors course there and really enjoyed the class. My instructor Moira was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. This was a morning class, so there were not so many students in the class, and I was getting a lot of personal attention. I signed up my son Mark to the summer camp there, unfortunately he didn't enjoy the camp as much as I expected, looks like his instructor wasn't so good with kids.

A great place to take a couple of courses. The space is nice, the classes are intimate (at 10 ppl maximum usually) and the instructors are very theoretical. If you're looking for a technical course, consider this place over some of the colleges. You'll get interesting diversity in the students.

My 4 year old son is going to the Avenue Road Arts School classes (Little Characters and Toddler Arts) since he is not in daycare, and I wanted to enroll him in a stimulating program. While I have not been there as our nanny takes him to the classes, the school has exceeded our expectations in every way. The art he brings home is fabulous, and the teachers are clearly very talented ladies, able to inspire the teeniest of us. Very excited to see his next projects ! Thank you Avenue Road Arts School !!!

Not long after we arrived in Toronto from Brooklyn, we were overjoyed to discover the Avenue Road Arts School. With friendly and fun yet ambitious programming of all kinds for little kids and big kids, classes there quickly became the highlight of our week. GTA parents, I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Your kids will love it, and so will you.

I have been taking classes for years at Avenue Road Arts School. I have found that I can take the same class multiple times and each time I learn something new. I have been fortunate enough to develop friendships with classmates and look forward to my class each week. The instructors are knowledgeable artists and are excited to share what they know with you. The school itself is a warm inviting atmosphere, located in an large old house. Class sizes are small, which allows for quite a bit of one on one time with instructors. Thoroughly recommend!
